Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy

Speech therapists  improve communication problems by developing articulation, fluency and resonance of speech. Speech therapists also improve the ability to understand and Express language. If a child of age 2 year or more is not talking yet  or speaks only two words together then the child needs speech therapy to say words clearly.

Who need speech therapy

  • By age of 1 year if child is not able to pinpoint by finger what he want or waving saying bye or prefer gesture rather than speaking
  • By the age of 18 months if a child troubles in copying sounds or has difficulty understanding simple questions asked.
  • By age of 2 if child only immediate action or few words but doesn’t produce words on his own
  • By age 3 there is an unusual sound of voice and it’s difficult to understand his vocal words easily
  • By age of 4 a child should be mostly understood even by those people who do not know the child

At our centre speech therapist first assess areas of communication problem and any other disorder, then make a therapy exercise program or activity for a child l. Therapy programmes vary with degree, severity, age and causes of disorders. Therapist interacts  with the child through talking ,playing using books, pictures, games to activate language development; uses  different oral motor techniques to produce sounds and finally after the session gives a home exercise program for the child and parent.
